Please do not delete this article speedily.

This article was cut from the GPS article because it should be a separate article. This article is not a duplicate of the information in the GPS article, because that information has been removed from that article and moved here. This was requested by a user on the discussion page of the GPS article, and I also think this article deserves to be separated from the main GPS article.
