Under developed?

[edit]

I feel we could add much more to this page, as it describes a document very core to the free software movement and philosophy. However, I am unsure on how exactly we should approach this, I already added a small summary, but I feel as though there should be more. Perhaps adding a background, or further detailing the points made in the manifesto? --Sorzech 20:57, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Old Discussion

[edit]

I think the GNU Manifesto was first published on the internet in 1983 or 1984. The 1985 publication mentioned was the printed publication in Dr Dobbs magazine. An exact cite for the internet publication would be nice. Phr 08:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is mentioned in the GNU article. --216.114.169.219 12:20, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Authenticity check

[edit]

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts? =Wetman

No; the original commenter has a point. "Regarded by many" without attribution is unsatisfactory - as is "read the article" as a response. 86.143.48.55 (talk) 13:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was talking to a bot. If a human asked me the same question, I'd've given a more human answer. --Gronky (talk) 16:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
