The result of this discussion was Merge. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 15:37, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to merge China Railways ND5 into GE C36-7. I think that the content in the China Railways ND5 article can easily be explained in the context of GE C36-7, and the ND5 is basically the C36-7 Green Shy Guy 54 (talk) 22:03, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - The ND5 article is a really barebones stub and the ND5 itself is not substantially different from the C36-7 (actually not different at all). Makes sense to include it in this article. By the way, make sure you add the appropriate proposed merger tags so other editors will see you are proposing a merger [1]. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 22:22, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I've gone ahead and placed the proposed merger templates on this page and the ND5 page for you. I will also post on WP Trains to invite additional editors to comment on the proposed merger. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 15:30, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: The ND5 doesn't even appear to be a separate type of locomotive at all, just a different designation of the same type. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:38, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New section for ND5

[edit]

It appears the discussion above was mistaken. The ND5 is different in several ways from domestic C36-7 production; having a lower axle loading, being shorter, And having bodywork modifications to fit inside the Chinese loading gauge. It appears that production-wise, these locomotives were known as C36-7s without differentiation, but they're also not the same machines as domestic C36-7s ConnieC420 (talk) 17:27, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't enough of a basis to support a separate article on the ND5. It's quite common to place variants of a locomotive in the same article. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 22:59, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
