The IOC abbreviation of "GBR" actually only refers to Great Britain, except for in Athletics. For sport purposes, Northern Ireland competes with Ireland under IRL. Only in Track & Field does Northern Ireland compete for GBR. I bring this up, because the GBR reference points to the United Kingdom and not Great Britain, which is problematic for the sport articles related to it. GBR is de facto the ISO 3166-1 code for the United Kingdom, even if the term 'Great Britain' means something else. Regards, Rob (talk) 23:55, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
