Year of birth
[edit]The link to the Port Arthur museum has the year of birth as 1944. Does someone have a reliable source to verify the correct year? JungleCat 18:01, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
I know
[edit]I know this man in real life. He's my best-friends granddad. I might be able to get some information from him. 76.171.59.206 (talk) 03:44, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Space after the first period in the page title
[edit]According to most style guides, including Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Abbreviations#Full_stops_.28periods.29), you would not put a space after the period that follows the G in his name. So it should be G.W. Bailey, not G. W. Bailey. But someone just tried to change it to the latter, on the Major Crimes page, and I wonder if that's in part because this page is titled with the space, as in G._W._Bailey. Should the title/main URL be changed to match the correct formatting of G.W._Bailey? CleverTitania (talk) 02:26, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- For abbreviations, yes; names and initials, no. — Wyliepedia 00:38, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

- No, your personal knowledge is not considered a reliable source for a Wikipedia article. Please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources for a better understanding of what is considered a reliable source for a Wikipedia article. -- Pemilligan (talk) 19:50, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
Personal knowledge is not considered a reliable source? You have to be kidding. That would be like telling a soldier that he cannot write a book about his personal experiences in the Army for that very same reason. --Nosehair2200 (talk) 04:10, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- I assume that each book publishing company has its own guidelines regarding what it will or will not publish. Wikipedia:Reliable sources is one of Wikipedia's basic guidelines. Please also see WP:SOURCE, which goes into some detail about determining whether a source is reliable. Eddie Blick (talk) 23:39, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
