[edit]This article claims that Wakefield was MP for West Derbyshire in 1950, but the article on West Derbyshire (UK Parliament constituency) shows Sir Edward Wakefield, 1st Baronet elected in 1950 for that constituency, with no mention of any by-election caused by the death of an incumbent. As there are no sources for the article on GECW it is impossible to verify any of the information - though searching for "Baron of Kendal" finds no mention of him either. - @PamD: The article seems riddled with errors. I found quite a bit about a certain "George Edward Campbell Wakefield" who served as a minister in the Nizam of Hyderabad's government [1] [2] here it says he was in the Punjab Irrigation department in 1892 which suggests he was not born in 1883 unless he was a child prodigy. There are traces in genealogy websites that give his date of birth as 1973 which seems more likely. Also if he published a book in 1942 with the title 50 years in service unless he was very poor at maths he can't have arrived in 1925...Dom from Paris (talk) 17:42, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis: You may have meant 1873 where you typed 1973 above! I suppose he could have been a clerk in the India Office at age 17 before going out there in 1925, to clock up his 50 years? Edward Wakefield was MP for West Derbyshire 1950-1962, elected in General Election [3] - but obviously not this chap! I've lost patience and taken it to AfD. PamD 20:14, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- And Wavell Wakefield, 1st Baron Wakefield of Kendal was yet another Wakefield. Aaaarrgh! This looks as if the creating editor has just assembled every person surnamed Wakefield of roughly the right period and assumed them to be the same man. I wonder how many other articles created by same editor need close examination. PamD 20:20, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- You're right! My mistake I'm on my telephone and fat fingers! I was going to try and clean it up but didn't know where to start either it's such a mess! Dom from Paris (talk) 21:10, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
