[edit]When and why was this deleted? This person is a professional football player playing in a professional football league. The Turkcell Super League is the top-flight football league in Turkey, where football is the national sport. Now, if a player like Andy Morrell deserves an article, how come this player doesn't? If this was deleted once then it will be deleted again. It's wikipedia policy, no matter how "unfair" it may seem. Discgolfrules 01:16, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, but I am asking where this deletion discussion occured. You cannot just place this tag if you have no logs that it was deleted before. CAN 01:17, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Discussion? This is wikipedia. Hence the phrase, "Speedily deleted" I can only assume that trillions of articles are deleted each day by administrators. They look over the article, and then decide whether or not to delete it, but usually they tap that delete button. One can place any tag on anything, including relevant articles, but they will not be concerned. You admitted to it being deleted before, which is all the proof I need. I saw it come up TWICE on the new pages page, hence, it has been reposted and deserved to be deleted for being in direct violation of wikipedia.
- I did not admit to anything. By you placing the tag you did, you are saying that it has been deleted before. I asked when, why, and where this occured. Violation? Where does it say if a page has been deleted before that if it ever comes up again it should be deleted again. This article is notable enough and is credible enough. CAN 01:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Did you or did you not re-create this article after it was deleted once? Answer in only yes or no
- No, I did not make this article when it was deleted. I am in the process of creating articles for players who have played for the Turkey B national football team if you look at my contributions. CAN 01:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
But someone else created the article and it was then deleted? And you remade it?
- I had no idea whatsoever that this article was created and deleted before. As I said before, I am in the process of creating articles for players who have played for the Turkey B national football team, so I went to the next redlink and created an article. CAN 01:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I will remove my deletion for reposting. 01:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Per above. CAN 01:37, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Can you show me one other person who knows about the Turkey Football League? Discgolfrules 01:38, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Name
[edit]As one of those maligned admins who just tap buttons :-) I have removed the speedy delete tag which is plainly inapplicable. However, can someone sort out a consistent form for the guy's name, please? We have:
- Gürol Gündüz Azer in the title
- Gürol Gündüz in the squad
- Gündüz Gürol Azer in Turkey B national football team
TerriersFan 02:01, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Heh, this is a case that is easy to run into with Turkish names. In Turkey, the name is Gündüz Gürol Azer, however, in the US or England, it may be Gürol Gündüz Azer. Same with Tuncay Sanli, Rüştü Reçber etc.. This is because in Turkey, it is common practice to use the first name on the back of jerseys which leads to much confusion. Anyway, it should be Gündüz Gürol Azer as that is the way it is listed at the official Turkish Football Federation website. Here. I'll be moving this now, and I'll fix the names where it's linked at.
