Proposition to improve the article : Correction of a quotation & mention to his participation in the Istanbul pogrom of 1955

[edit]

To be double checked: The citation in the second paragraph does not belong to Sipahioğlu himself but to Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu, an officer in the "special operations unit" at the time of the pogrom who would later become a general and the chief of that same unit. As for Sipahioğlu, he also played an ominous role in the pogrom of 6th and 7th of September 1955, targeting the Greek minority in particular, but the other non-muslim communities as well. Either recruited or used indirectly by the "special operations unit", he had been the first to publish the news in Istanbul Expres, the paper of which he was the chief editor, about the "bombing of Atatürk's house in Thessaloniki" and made several special editions during the first day amplifying the provocative effect.
