Valid sources.

[edit]

are links to twitter and furaffinity really valid sources for the website creators death? What's next? Reddit posts as a valid source? Come on. Without a real source, y'all might be falling for an elaborate April fools joke. BadMombo1660 (talk) 19:42, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Hack sources

[edit]

As of this writing, sources on Fur Affinity's recovery from the hack are hard to come by. Most of the updates about the situation come from their official Discord server, which we generally do not consider to be reliable. Please bear with us while we look for third-party resources. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:35, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's this one on Flayrah, though it's not all that much more than a summation of events. (Our story about Dragoneer's death lists many more comprehensive stories about FA.) GreenReaper (talk) 23:51, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Undue emphasis on 2024 hack?

[edit]

I'm wondering if the 2024 hack really warrants its own section. Does this event stand out more than other site attacks such as the 2016 source code leak or the times that it was brought down by DDOS attacks? TornadoLGS (talk) 19:27, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it happening so soon after the owner died (and likely being possible because of that) brought more attention than usual. Plus there's probably just more attention on furries now that isn't just mocking. Ringtail Raider (talk) 23:51, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We'll probably condense that section to mention that the site was hacked in August 2024, but remove most of the details. The section was being updated near-real-time while the event was in progress, partly to mitigate any damage that might be done if someone followed a link to the site during the event. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:16, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
