1869 or 1891?

[edit]

Two incorporation dates, any references? Rfrisbietalk 03:55, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to Romig's Michigan Place Names it was incorporated as a village in 1891. It was renamed Fruitport from Crawville in 1869. I'll update this later with a full reference when I get a chance. Heh, I just noticed that the with the exception of the mistaken date, the addition is taken almost word for word from Romig. olderwiser 12:01, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No error...

[edit]

As the article clearly states, the town was founded in 1868 as Crawville, a year later (1869) the town was renamed Fruitport. Then, in 1891, the town of Fruitport was incorporated as a village.
