Talk:Friends of Israel Initiative

[edit]Unclear why my edit outlining the conservative affiliations of the founders was edited out; all highly relevant information and amply documented, not least in the relevant Wikipedia pages on the personalities concerned. Without that information the article lacks balance and authority. --Brocach (talk) 12:19, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I apologize for the removal of the Iran bit. I missed it. I took out the comments for several of reasons. (1) The parts where the usage of "Pro-Israeli" is just repetitive. Clearly, by the name of the group, much of their focus is pro-Israel. (2) It would be difficult to call all of the members of the group "right-wing". Aznar is probably center-right, and would be considered a left-wing liberal in America. Forza-Italia is centre-right. Right-wing implies extreme and not populist, which both of those parties are. Bolton is certainly right-wing. (3)Adding the right-wing nomenclature throughout gives the absolutely incorrect appearance that only conservatives and right-wingers are pro-Israel, which is just not true. (4) Furthermore, you repeated this in virtually every line of the article.Sposer (talk) 14:33, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Including subjective views of the nature of the peoples' politics is a deprecated practice on wikipedia. Including the names of the parties with which they are or were affiliated is objective, in contrast, and therefore fine.--Epeefleche (talk) 06:23, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- (2)The current edit is fine by me, though we clearly have very different understandings of terms such as "right-wing" and "centre-right". (3) I was not implying anything about pro-Israeli groups/prople in general, but objectively, this outfit is pretty much of the right. --Brocach (talk) 08:48, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- I think the point as to people being able to have different understandings as to terms such as right-wing, etc., is a good reminder of some of the policy reasons for avoiding those subjective terms here, and keeping to the RS-supported facts (such as their parties).--Epeefleche (talk) 22:19, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
