[edit]I'm not sure why this page was gutted. It was a reasonable page following reasonable protocol based on other prominent companies. History and Products and Associations were deleted, it seems, without merit.
Please advise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.197.140.131 (talk • contribs) 19:02, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, there is a new Logo for this company, which can be found here: http://friedrich.com/images/logo_shield.gif This should replace the current logo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrock31 (talk • contribs) 19:13, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just to be clear: are User:65.197.140.131 and User:Adrock31 the same editor? Given the closeness in time I'm assuming yes, but let me know if I'm overreaching.
- To answer the second question (about the logo) first: the best way to get it added to the article is for the company itself (with their lawyer's approval) to disclaim all copyright interest and post it at Wikimedia Commons. The easiest way is for you to snag it off the web site and upload it such that it overwrites File:FRIEDRICH_Logo_web.jpg; the current
{{logo fur}}
would still be applicable.
- As for the rest: The page was stubbed (not gutted) because it contained no third-party verifiable reliable sources. Not a one. In theory, an article without references shouldn't even exist, but the company name gets enough Google News hits to assume that the company itself is notable.
- Additionally, there were copyright issues. Copyright infringement doesn't require that the source be duplicated word-for-word, which is why WP has rules against close paraphrasing. For instance:

Ed Friedrich’s first enterprise was making furniture from the horns of longhorn cattle, creating items such as chairs and settees out of the horns’ curves. In 1883 he founded a company, which produced handcrafted furniture and other goods such as billiards tables, store fixtures, and other fine-carved cabinetry.

A little-known piece of the history of Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. is that the family started out fashioning furniture from the horns of longhorn cattle, utilizing the curves of the horns to form chairs and settees… When Ed Friedrich started his business in 1883, he produced several handcrafted products including store fixtures, wood billiard tables and fine-carved cabinetry.

Friedrich air conditioners are built to operate in harsh environments. They are used to cool offshore oil rigs and are found on military bases and government offices all over the world. Examples include use at Northrup Grumman, Eastman Chemical and the Kennedy Space Center.

Some of our customers are businesses that operate in harsh environments where equipment just has to work. Period. Oil companies rely on us to cool offshore oil rigs, and we can be found on military bases and in government offices all over the world. Friedrich air conditioners are in use at Northrup Grumman, Eastman Chemical and the Kennedy Space Center, just to name a few.

- Virtually all of the products section was lifted from http://www.friedrich.com/about/about_mediakitProductLine.html.
- The entire "other information" section is a copy/paste (with lousy wikification) from http://www.friedrich.com/about-us/media-kit/.

- Overall: I'd recommend that you spend some time looking at the Google news hits I linked to above and add some solid references and sourcing instead of fretting about this week's logo versus last week's. Even at this length, it needs a lot of work, so go for it! Dori ❦ (Talk ❖ Contribs ❖ Review) ❦ 00:04, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
