To do - "Fremantle trails"
[edit]Suggestion:
- delete "An earlier version was produced in 2008,Fremantle Trails" ref, and replace it with http://www.visitfremantle.com.au/Things-to-do/Fremantle-walking-trails (which then moves out of External links.
- capitalise the specific named trails to match the list in that ref

... have had to deal with proposed ...
[edit]The article currently says:
The Fremantle Society, ... have had to deal with:
- ...
- Proposed demolition or removal of Fremantle Markets
- Proposed widening of High Street, and demolition of numerous buildings
Note the use of past tense and unconditional "have had to" and the conditional implied future tense "proposed". How have these entities had to deal with proposed changes to Markets, High St, buildings in the context of tours and trails? Did they have to create draft documentation with new tours and trails as part of the proposals? Did those proposals ever eventuate?
What impact did the actual loss of the Oriana Cinema have on the walking tours and trails? Was there a trail that changed or was removed as a consequence of that loss?

- To unravel this adequately bit by bit feels beyond the probable capacity of the potential responder at this particular point in time, and might give it a miss for the moment. JarrahTree 12:49, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
heritage events which have included special tours and walks
[edit]Regarding this deletion of text:
I suspect that some of the deleted text should probably be kept, eg
The City of Fremantle has had "heritage events" which have included special tours and walks ....[1]

would appear to be relevant here. I don't have access to the reference though, so I can't check the validity of that text. Mitch Ames (talk) 05:03, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Understanding the effect of the council and fremantle society have had on the residual heritage properties and streetscapes - is what sustains the capacity of the walking tours to actually exist. The fremantle society article is currently quite insufficient to explain or detail the inter-relationship between the governance of heritage sites and streets with the potential for well documented trails and tours of the townsite. The reconfigured fremantle local history collection which is no longer browse-able but which requires request format that the perth city local history collection also does, substantially reduces the very serendipitous shelf checking that was possible in the older format. The activities of council and other authorities with effect over fremantle locations are ever changing in process and scope, and a single reference from 2014 is hardly adequate to make the explanation of the relationship between heritage protection, and the effect on the capacity to have tours and or designated trails. competitions
[edit]The article currently says:
The walking through or around Fremantle ... had involved competitions in 1893.[1]

but that reference says (with my emphasis here) "A handicap walking match will be held ... in the Town Hall". Is there a "walking tour or trail" in the Town Hall? I can't see how this competition falls within the scope of the article "Fremantle walking tours and trails". Mitch Ames (talk) 12:20, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- you win some, you lose some - point taken mitch - I must have misread the ref at the time. I am wondering whether you have the capacity to actually add a reference if you found one relevant. JarrahTree 12:30, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
