Orphan article removed
[edit]This article has now been linked from another article. Hence removing the orphan article tag. ChristopherYeun (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:41, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Removed speedy deletion tag
[edit]I have removed speedy deletion tag. Article has citations, has been up for over a year and there seems to be reliable sources indicating some level of notability see [1]. Should go before AfD if nominator still wants to delete it. Capitalistroadster (talk) 03:12, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
Jewish? Gay?
[edit]Jewish??? Gay??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.64.76 (talk) 15:53, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Definitely Jewish, by his own account. Gay? Who knows? (Who cares?) — QuicksilverT @ 19:44, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- I have removed statements that he was Jewish. There is no indication that religion was defining or notable in his life. WWGB (talk) 23:14, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- WP:BLP would not allow us to speculate whether a living (or recently deceased person) was gay. However, Brandt was definitely Jewish. He was raised Jewish, and later in life continued to identify as such.[2] Who is a Jew? states that Jewishness is an ethnicity as well as a religion, so just because there is no indication that religion played a central role in Brandt's life, it is still worth mentioning.– Gilliam (talk) 02:00, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- But why is it worth reporting? Nothing suggests it played any part in his notability, that is, "the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their public life or notability, according to reliable published sources." WWGB (talk) 02:58, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Birthplace
[edit]I've tentatively added Newark, New Jersey as Dr. Brandt's birthplace, based on a quote wherein he identified himself as a "Jewish kid from Newark". For example, see http://www.style.com/beauty/people/2015/dr-frederic-brandt. Unless a formal obituary is published somewhere, we won't know for sure, as he could have been born elsewhere and just spent his formative years in Newark. — QuicksilverT @ 19:44, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
