I began a sandbox article on Eglin when I was unable to find one in wiki to link to. I was unable to find one in wiki because the article already written has spelled the first name in apparent error. Nowhere do I find the spelling of his given name as Fredrick--all spellings I find in references have the second "e" used. Just a sampling: Eglin Air Force Base History, Eglin named historic site, Order of the Daedalians, paying homage to Eglin namesake. Air Force Historical Study 100, History of the Air Corps Tactical School, where Eglin was both a student and four-year instructor, has the spelling I reference. Clay, in US Army Order of Battle 1919-1941, Vol. 3: The Services: Air Service, Engineers, and Special Troops Organizations uses the spelling in all his commander notations. USAAC accident reports use the "e" spelling. Arlington Cemetery lists it as "Frederick" as does West-Point.org and the 401st Bomb Group Association regarding his son Fred, Jr. Presumably all of these writers used primary sources for their spelling (one of which is here: Command and General Staff School archived report, page 5, student) and it is unlikely they all misread the spelling. When the rewritten article is finished, I will be moving the title to the correct spelling unless someone can verify with reliable sources that I am the one in error.--Reedmalloy (talk) 09:23, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
