Pedro Martinez wasn't exactly a little-known minor league pitchers when he was traded for Delino DeShields. In fact, Martinez had spent the entire 1993 season with the Dodgers as a highly effective middle reliever, and he had already had a high profile due to being the brother of successful major league pitcher Ramon Martinez.
