[edit]The bio is very skimpy on his personal life. If I am not mistaken, he was an alcoholic who went into rehab in Minnesota at least once if not more often. I also think, but this needs to be confirmed, that he died of alcoholism or its consequences. He became something of a recluse after he lost the race for the Senate and retired to his home in Hastings, Nebraska from which he rarely emerged. Perhaps one doesn't want to mention this, but a full bio would need, I think, to include it. I knew him in fact, though not well. I was much younger than he. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.225.108.99 (talk) 17:54, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
