... that the US embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus was bombed while Fraser Wilkins was serving as the first US ambassador to Cyprus? Source: "Two bombs exploded at the United States Embassy tonight and the Ambassador authorized the evacuation of American civilians who wished to leave Cyprus." ([1]) "Fraser Wilkins, who was the first United States Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, died of a stroke Saturday at Sibley Memorial Hospital here. He was 80 years old." ([2])
