NSDAP member

[edit]

As you'll see from the German article, he joined the Nazi party, but a better link would be nice before we add it here. Snori (talk) 20:17, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the link to Carl Martius goes to the wrong Carl Martius. Carl Martius the botanist is an ancestor of Carl Martius the biochemist. For the latter, there isn't a wikipedia article yet. (in the English wikipedia, there is an article in the German version https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Martius) — Preceding unsigned comment added by PhilidorGB (talkcontribs) 14:43, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Citation-needed tags

[edit]

When I first looked at the Knoop article it had two citation-needed tags. One of these (the work with Martius) was easy to fix, and I've fixed it. However, I'm completely defeated by the statements about histidine (not helped by the fact that at present I'm not able to access Web of Science). Can someone deal with that?

The article as a whole could stand a fair amount of improvement by someone familiar with Knoop's life and work.

As for the Nazi connection I imagine (but I'm guessing) that he was in a situation where he didn't have much choice. Hans Krebs, a refugee from the Nazis, was probably aware of it, but that didn't stop him making a favourable reference to Knoop in his Nobel lecture.
