Geologist?
[edit]Neumann is categorized as a minerologist. Minerologist are categorized as a sub-category of geologists. So I believe he fits into the guidelines for Geologists from the Kingdom of Prussia. For the time being I have added him to scientists from the Kingdom of Prussia.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- In Germany, both the mineralogy and the geology are subdivisions of the geoscience, of course with strong, but not hierarchic connections between them. The geologists mainly work in the field, and the persons listed as German geologists oh the 19th century actually worked in the field (except Franz Neumann and Heinrich Rose). Franz Neumann was a mineralogist, who was interested in the mathematical and physical properties of crystals, and in general, he is seen as one of the fathers of mathematical physics in Germany. He never worked in the fields, and thus I think, his categorization to "geologist" may be misleading to the reader. --Dioskorides (talk) 12:11, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

- You're going to have to explain what you mean by "standard". Because that's not the same thing as consensus. We have ENGVAR as well, which is like the opposite of following "standard". Mason (talk) 21:53, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
