[edit]Who posted this rubbish that the Frankston Bypass will become M7? Its obvious that this claim has no valid proof as any changes to route numbering in metro Melbourne is still some time away. --Sk-4 (talk) 23:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
This is actually not rubbish. MP Fwy/Frankston Fwy was originally to be signed the M7 but this was changed to M11, which was signed for a short time just before EastLink opened then it was reverted back to metro 11, I don't know the reason for this, maybe it cost too much to convert all metro 11 signs to M11. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrispain (talk • contribs) 03:44, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- The user is referring to the 'Frankston Bypass' which is clearly not the current Frankston Fwy/Mornington Peninsula Fwy. The 'Frankston Bypass' is the proposed freeway designed to link both sections of the MP Fwy, and as it is yet unbuilt, how can it already be given a route number? --122.107.178.246 (talk) 08:41, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
If the Frankston Bypass gets built it could possibly carry the M11 sign as it would just be part of the MP Fwy and the Frankston Fwy could possibly get a new route number, eg M3. - But when the M7 was around it was designed to go down the Moorooduc Hwy as opposed to the Frankston Bypass - I dare say the Bypass was not a concrete proposal (ie to be built) when the idea of the M7 was born. Furthermore, the piece of information regarding the Frankston Bypass route number is nothing more than just pure speculation at this point in time, therefore if it was/is added to the article, it should be pointed out clearly that it is speculation as VicRoads has not come out publicly declaring that the bypass is the M7/11. --122.107.178.246 (talk) 23:42, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
What I mean is that if back in 1997 the Mp Fwy-Frankston Fwy-Moorooduc Hwy-Mp Fwy was changed to M7 and then say today the Frankston Bypass was built then the Frankston Bypass would be part of the Mp Fwy so would get M7 but don't know what Frankston FWy-Moorooduc Hwy would have got possibly M11/A11...anyway with SEITA doing planning studies it looks more likely that the Frankston Bypass could be a reality, so I would say the logical thing would be the MP Fwy inc. Frankston Bypass would get M11, Frankston Fwy M3 and Moorooduc Hwy A11. Sugestion
[edit]When the article says "Frankston Freeway connects with three other urban freeways: the EastLink tollway, Mornington Peninsula Freeway (northern section) and Peninsula Link." Its not 2012 anymore. Peninsula Link is just a part of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway so why do we have to call them separate? Bruzino (talk) 10:21, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
