[edit]"exposure of his homosexual ephebophile activities" - this isn't right either - should we revert? Albatross2147 22:54, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
I was a member of the church until 2002. I remember there was a public statement made by Brian Houston around late 2002 about his father in relation to him being forced to step down. This would be approximately two years after he learned about this himself. Jadzia626 (talk) 19:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Unreferenced
[edit]WP:REF This article is completely unreferenced and badly needs some. I have highlighted all the statements which I would consider need referencing as they are potentially disputable. I will revisit this page in 14 days and remove all of this material that has not been cited. As the subject is no longer living, I consider that immediate removal is not needed under Wikipedia policy. Note that some unreferenced material may also have implications for related organisations, and I have no objection if other editors feel that these should be removed straight away. Halsteadk 11:57, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- All the stuff you are callng "unreferenced" is on the public record. There is now further testimony as of today as to Houston's predatory activities - see [1]. If you delete the stuff on Houstons errr... failings I will revert. Peromptorily leaving a message saying you will delete of material such as this becasue you don't like it is not a consensus. Albatross2147 01:01, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is unreferenced by anyone's definition because no reference has been given. If it is on the public record, please supply a reference and then there is no issue. I have no intention of deleting your addition as you have referenced it - please do not assume I am the sort of editor who would. The material I consider requires referencing or removal has "citation required" tags, both of which are relatively minor - I am certainly not talking about removing half the article. And please do not assume I have a bias, the only thing "I don't like" is seeing unreferenced material in articles - I even went and specifically looked out a reference (there wasn't one given in the article) to the most famous allegation against him so that it would be kept in the article. Please could you assume good faith in future. Halsteadk 08:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Unreferenced items now referenced. Could not find a reference to love offerings, this is the only item I've removed. As you say everything else is on the public record and you'd need to live on Mars not to know about it if you have any knowledge of Hillsong's history, but that is no excuse for it not being referenced in the article. Brett Sengstock
[edit]Something should be mentioned regarding Brett Sengstock one of Frank Houston's alleged victims who has been publicly targetting the Australian PM Scott Morrison's friendship with Brian Houston, Frank's son as "absolutely monstrous" https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/child-abuse-victim-says-australians-prime-ministers-friendship-with-his-kiwi-rapists-son-is-absolutely-monstrous/PEGGRPPMHRNDNNS4PLTHFLEATA/ 132.234.228.177 (talk) 09:53, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
- It is not Wikipedia policy to mention, list, or name (alleged) victims of crime unless the victim of crime is notable for some other reason, prior to the crime. The individual who has raised these concerns, like any other person, may make whatever statements he wants. If the media wish to publish, they may. Wikipedia is not news. There is no need for Wikipedia to name the individual, especially if they're an alleged or actual victim. And then, why should it be placed on this article. Surely, if he is critical of a relationship between Morrison and Brian Houston, it should be on those pages, not this page. Rangasyd (talk) 09:51, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
“…abused many young boys.”
[edit]One is too many, that is true. The documentary on Hillsong said their were 13 men accusing Frank Houston of sexual abuse, all of the cases over 46 years ago. One of the victims stated that he never saw Frank Houston doing it to him, he just knew it was him. In the State of California the Limitation on reporting Sexual Abuse is 10 years, not 22-35 years like thses cases reported. I think “Many” should be changed to up to 13 cases, the number actually reported. Easeltine (talk) 20:45, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- "Up to 13" implies that we know the number for certain. We don't. Wikipedia can only report on facts reported by reliable sources. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:10, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
