he was inducted into the University of St. Thomas Athletics Hall of Fame in 1983
this says he "graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1941" and "Deig held the St. Thomas football record for most wins (56), and was the only coach to win four MIAC championships (1947,1948,1949, and 1956)" and "he was named the National Catholic Small College Coach of the Year. "
