Year of death wrong?
[edit]Frank Dalton at Find a Grave shows a picture of a tombstone with the date of Nov 27, 1888. This article has no real references, just links. Is there a WP:RS for 1887? --Alvestrand (talk) 05:04, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Every article every written on Frank Dalton indicates it was Nov 27, 1887, and that he was born in 1859. Gravestones are frequently changes, and especially in the 1800 when people had little money they could be added 10 to 30 years later, especially if the original was destroyed because it was made of wood or cheap stone ... at which time they're usually going by memory, as in "he died in his X year", which is actually one year older than one's age (a 1 year old is in their 2nd year). This sort of this is extremely common, almost more than not in the 1800's. So you go by the public record ... it is a matter of public record (newpapers, etc) that it occurred in 1887. Of course, that won't stop people from trying to change it to match the headstone every chance they get. We need a photo of a public record to put next to the photo of the gravestone to keep that from happening, but even then it will still probably happen. Davea0511 (talk) 04:11, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
Who was first buried in Elmwood Cemetery
[edit]According to the article, Frank "Dalton was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas, not far from the graves of his two outlaw brothers, Grat and Bob". But in 1887 Grat and Bob Dalton were alive, and therefore Frank could not have been buried "not far from their graves". Maybe he was buried not far from where his outlaw brothers would have been buried 5 years after. AntMir (talk) 18:32, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
