The section "Controversy" has been added to this page for partisan reasons. It contains falsehoods and innuendos. This should be removed and that the person who made this edit should be blocked from making edits to Wikipedia as they are spreading falsehoods for political gain.

Specific errors in the section:

  1. It states that there is a conflict of interest. There is no conflict of interest. Here is the link to the government conflict of interest code. https://www.ourcommons.ca/about/standingorders/appa1-e.htm
  2. It states that the company is directed by Frank Baylis. Frank Baylis is neither the president nor the CEO of the company.
  3. It states that Baylis Médicale sold the units to the government. Baylis Médicale has no contract with the government. Baylis Médicale has not sold any ventilators to the government.
  4. It infers that Medtronic sells these ventilators for 10 000 CAD$. This is false.
  5. It infers that the government purchased similar ventilators for 23 700 CAD$. This is false.

Have summarized the section. The cited sources mention that it raised questions of conflict of interest. – Thjarkur (talk) 18:13, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This page has been edited to remove aspects of "Controversy" that were incorrectly posted previously. However the page stills states the following which is contains incorrect information along with innuendo and should therefore be removed:

Baylis Medical Company - In August 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was reported that a company owned by Baylis had been awarded a contract of 237 millions CAD$ to purchase ventilators.[9] This raised questions about conflict of interest of granting such a contract to a company owned by a former member of parliament.[9][10]

1. Below is a link to the government of Canada website that lists all Covid related purchases. Table 13, (Ventilators and accessories), lists all of the companies that received purchase orders for ventilators and accessories. Baylis Medical is NOT listed because Baylis Medical does NOT have a contract with government of Canada to sell them ventilators.

https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/comm/aic-scr/contrats-contracts-eng.html#fn13-2

2. There are no questions about conflict of interest for two reasons: (a) There is no restriction on previous members of parliament selling goods or services to the government of Canada and (b) Baylis Medical has no contract with the government of Canada. Here is the government of Canada Conflict of Interest Code as it applies to Members or Parliament. Note that there are no restrictions on past Members of Parliament.

It is my understanding Wikipedia is about facts. It is not about posting rumours, hearsay, innuendo, or political attacks. The section should therefore be removed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.46.199.210 (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've closed the edit request by the IP editor above as declined. The small mention currently in the article is cited to a reliable source. Orvilletalk 07:27, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

author declaration

[edit]

I'm finished my editing of this article for now which was listed as in need of updates. I want to declare any potential conflict of interest in that I worked for years for Frank Baylis' sister, Dr. Francoise Baylis who recommended me to do these updates. Frank Baylis was consulted, and though at first I was going to to do this editing as a contract from Mr. Baylis, I know this is contentious with Wikipedia & therefore have accepted no payment. All claims are scrupulously referenced to public sources. Tm806891 (talk) 14:51, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
