"was ordained in Scotland"
[edit]Is this true? I'm sure he was a minister in the Irish Presbyterian Church, not the Church of Scotland? <font="center" color="#FFFFFF"> theKeith Talk! 12:29, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, you are correct. He was ordained in Northern Ireland in 1682 by the Presbytery of Laggan. I'll make the change accordingly.

"... ordained in Northern Ireland"
[edit]No - Reverend Francis Makemie was not born in Northern Ireland. The state of Northern Ireland did not come into existence until 1921. Reverend Makemie was born near the village of Ramelton which was and is in the county of Donegal, in the province of Ulster (the reference I think you meant to make).
As a matter of interest, Donegal, although still a county of Ulster is not in Northern Ireland, but is part of the Republic of Ireland. Jbradle8 (talk) 02:22, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
