[edit]

I'm a former Libermann student, graduated as an OAC years ago and was the editor for the yearbook and newspaper. I'm not sure if things have changed a lot since I left so I'm a bit hestiant to throw what I know into the entry. However, I do remember being told that the yearbook had won a few awards in the past (back when Jostens was still giving out awards) and the newspaper for sure was winning awards from The Toronto Star. Robotics was doing quite well when I was there and they didn't start having students younger then grade 9 until after I graduated.

This is old information though, things could have drastically changed since I graduated. (And if running shoes of any kind is now considered acceptable form of footwear in Libermann, things have REALLY changed. Not to sound like an old fogey but when I was a student there, it's black dress shoes and black dress shoes only.) I know that OAC day is gone. Aside from the obvious reason (there's no OAC anymore), from what I've heard the annual traditional prank day reserved for final year students have been replaced with a BBQ. I don't know why but it might be related to that one year when it became a day of vandalism instead of pranks.

Anyway, just throwing that in here and if anyone is more familar with what's happening in Libermann now that can confirm or deny this, feel free to write it in the main entry. -Black Kitty

-->Running shoes are acceptable now

Query

[edit]

I moved this reaction from the article to the discussion page:

Please note that I am contradicting what has already been said. I'm a student at Francis Libermann Catholic High School. I'm in Grade 11. The SAC, although mostly composed of "attractive females" is very good at organizing events for the students. This is what the STUDENT ADVIROSRY COUNCIL is there for. They are not a political group. They are an organization of students. That’s it.
Being in a Law class that has already covered the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, I have neither heard of nor experienced any so called “human rights violations.” The reason I find for students to skip class is because they do not want to attend class, not that they are being violated. The Administration is cracking down on these “skips” very heavily. This ratio of 21.3% of students is improvable.
I have never heard of this “Hand of Allah.”
I never saw these pictures of “handless children.” This “blasphemous propaganda” could only have been done by the only “political extremist” in our school, whose name I will not mention. I bought a ticket because I wanted to go to the dance. And I had a lot of fun. Of course this dance would be heavily restricted! The last dance Libermann had, a student was shot. Can you honestly blame the Administration or the SAC for being careful?
Bubbling is positively obscene. For those who don’t know what bubbling is, it is when two students rub their crotches against one another. It is very sexual, often referred to as “dry sex.” I can understand why this wasn’t allowed seeing as how Libermann, being a Catholic School, does not condone sex before marriage, even dry sex. The attire was to be approved by a member of the administration because some students dress very provocatively. Yet, despite all these restrictions, the dance had many excellent reviews.

I hope that the person who added this comment will be able to get more people from this school to add to this article and hopefully bring some neutrality to it, as it is sorely violating NPOV at the moment. Robrecht 01:01, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

To this date (26/12/05) none of the above dicussion topics are applicaple to this article (Excluding the comment directly above). The article still needs more content and needs to have a neutral point of view.
How can this article have a neutral point of view if it has some guyz idea about thugz and rockers in this school?
I agree; get rid of that. Shouldn't articles be strictly informational?
How about adding some stuff about the physical makeup and courses offered in the school?
Whoever made the original version of this site makes up words that don't exist. The category names don't even make much sense either. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.141.11.236 (talk • contribs) .

Racial background

[edit]

I suggest omiting the racial background part as this changes over a short period, and is also currently innacurate. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.141.11.236 (talk • contribs) .

If you're about the following paragraph below...
Like many high schools in Toronto, Libermann High is a place for some newly arrived immigrating students. For the most part, these students are Asian or African-American. The population majorly comes from neighbouring schools such as St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Bartholemew, Our Lady of Grace, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, St. René Goupil, and Divine Infant, with the occasional (1 or 2 per year) student from St. Jean de Lalande.
I think you're right. I think the racial groups of any school in Scarborough are always quickly changing, and therefore this paragraph will either be ineffective if it keeps having to change or inaccurate if it doesn't change. I'll remove it. --70.25.168.90 11:36, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
