False friends
[edit]While in Catalan "nacionalista" means "regionalist" or "separatist", in English the word "nationalist" has right-wing connotations and is especially confusing in the context of the Spanish Civil War, as the word "nationalist" is commonly used to describe Franco's followers as opposed to the "republicans" - so it's utterly puzzling to read that Francesc Layret was a "nationalist and republican Catalan lawyer". I propose the word to be replaced by "separatist". 83.32.66.47 (talk) 07:29, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
