Maiden name

[edit]

Does anyone know her maiden name? Snappy (talk) 17:49, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan. "I was born in Limerick, but both my parents were from Cork; my father, Tadhg Ryan, hurled with Christy Ring. I lived in Dublin from my early teens; went to Sion Hill in Blackrock." — O'Dea (talk) 18:11, 8 May 2014 (UTC)`[reply]
Thanks! Any chance that Timmy Ryan is her father? Snappy (talk) 18:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know but his death notice describes him suggestively as both Timothy and Tadhg (and "darling Dad of Frances (Fitzgerald)"). There is also an acknowledgement notice for him, identifying him as a colonel, which might be a useful search term. — O'Dea (talk) 19:16, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Timmy Ryan was born in Cork and was playing for Tipperary in 1950 when Fitzgerald was born in Limerick. She moved to Dublin in her early teens. So, he is associated with Cork and Tipperary while she is associated with Limerick and Dublin. It does not prove he is not her father but it implies caution should be used in drawing conclusions. Don't be afraid to send her an e-mail: both frances.fitzgerald@oir.ie and frances.fitzgerald@oireachtas.ie. These TDs do reply, or have replied to me, anyway. She might invite you to her inauguration banquet. — O'Dea (talk) 19:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Damn it, no. That was Tim Ryan (hurler), and you are asking about Timmy Ryan, who is associated with Limerick, but his article claims he died in 1995 whereas Fitzgerald's father died in 2006. Who are all these bloody people? — O'Dea (talk) 19:52, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
