I've just edited the article. One thing I did not fix was the population figure, which is given for "Wild Dog Valley" (a name never used locally AFAIK). The Frances district would have less than half of that number; Frances township has much less.

BTW, I made sure that the article no longer claims the State Government maintains Frances Road, because honesty would compel me to qualify that verb with "notionally" or "supposedly".

I did a web search for a source for Frances continuing to be a "major receiving point for grain, with several large silos", but did not find one. There must be some, but I didn't find any. CWC 05:33, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

@Chris Chittleborough:I would have used EziGrain Operating Hours but that currently says "Site closed for 16/17 harvest receivals" which is unclear whether that applied to the whole season, or simply today/this month. Some others have similar words and some have "Site now closed for 16/17 harvest receivals", others are open by appointment or for specific hours or only some kinds of grain. Storage Allocation seems to suggest that Frances had nine varieties/grades of barley, canola, faba beans and wheat this year. I was hoping for a report along the lines of "Frances terminal takes in huge amounts of grain, 3rd highest among Viterra SA terminals", because I know that mainstream media and farming news reports have carried stories like that in the (distant-ish) past. Little Desert

I've just created Little Desert, Victoria as a redirect to Little Desert National Park, and changed the "Localities around Frances" part of the infobox to link there. (Ideally, we probably should have separate articles, one about the geography & ecology of the LD and another about the facilities of the LDNP, but I don't have the sources or the time or the energy to write that.) BTW, the Little Desert is geographically distinct from the Big Desert (north of the Western Highway). I've never visited the Big Desert, so I don't know how similar it is to the Little Desert in terms of flora and fauna. (I have driven around the SW portion of the Little Desert several times.) Hi CWC, I have upgraded your edit because information available on relevant Victorian government websites show that Little Desert, Victoria is located in the Shire of Hindmarsh about 45 km east of the border with South Australia - you can verify this by doing a search for Little Desert on http://maps.land.vic.gov.au/ and selecting a map view. Also, a map of the Shire of Hindmarsh that can be downloaded from Locality names and boundary maps webpage, shows all of the gazetted localities in the shire including Little Desert. Thanks for changing the article to list Neuarpurr as the NE, E, and SE article. I think that's the right answer here. Listing the Little Desert as the NE neighbor was a bit iffy; listing Benayeo as the SE neighbor is a big stretch.

It's true that the Little Desert National Park facilities are near Nhill (Shire of Hindmarsh), but both the LD and the LDNP go all the way to the border. Local expertise is not to be underestimated :-)
