[edit]As I live in Paris, I could recommend a few things to add. One would be some parts of the Musée Guimet collection. In particular this article could mention a reproduction of the Toji temple mandala commissioned by Guimet after his 1876 visit and realized by Kyoto sculptor Yamamoto Mosuke. I think "France derived much of its modern artistic inspiration from Japanese art" is really pushing it. Thoughts? -Hmib 21:13, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- You're right. I changed the phrase to "France derived part of its modern artistic inspiration from Japanese art, essentially through Japonism and its influence on Impressionism" PHG 21:53, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
