French mother
[edit]He's the son of a Malian father and a French mother —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.54.202.34 (talk) 19:27, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Just added info from the UEFA cup games in the last week
Also, I think the Muslim information is interesting and relevant. Mentioning a Christian player's religion could be relevant, for example in the past there has been a lot of controversy with catholic players at Rangers etc. If the information was just 'Freddie is a muslim' maybe it shouldn't be here, but i think in these circumstances its fine 86.145.128.251 18:17, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Muslim reference removed - how is this relevant? It doesn't have a context and contributes nothing. Edblax 12:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Exactly I removed the Muslim reference; it's irrelevant. Do we say that players are christians? No, so why it has importance because he's a Muslim?VincentG 03:36, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
erm
With Regards to "Muslim"
[edit]Mentioning his conversion to Islam is relevant under personal life and relevant in his footballing career when mentioning the dilemma and standoff that ensued with 888.com and Sevilla's management. Back to religion, anyways, if say you were to mention in Linvoy Primus' article that he is a self-confessed practicing catholic christian - that would be relevant. Likewise with Kanoute, it is relevant. HOWEVER, where you talk about not mentioning that Christian players are christian. Being christian by name or muslim by name is one thing, being an open active practicer of the religion is another thing - which is actually worth mentioning...
This isn't a purely footballing encyclopedia (although even those would be likely to include occasional snippets of information about player backgrounds, personal lives and trivia), it's a wikipedia page for FREDDIE KANOUTE the human being, not freddi kanoute solely the footballer... comprende? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Homegrownhero (talk • contribs) 14:52, 10 April 2007 (UTC).
Fenerbache
[edit]There has been no reports officially that Frédéric Kanouté has signed for Fenerbache or anyone else for that matter. Please do not continually change this.
Informality
[edit]I would like to report the informal tone of the article specifically the line "... he went AWOL". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.172.39.172 (talk) 18:03, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
