I removed Matthew Ridgway from "Notable Alumni", for two reasons. One, He could not have graduated from a school that was not established until he was well into his adult years (Fox Chapel High School was established in 1961, and Gen. Ridgeway graduated from high school in 1912), and secondly, according to his bio at the Arlington Cemetary web site [1] he graduated from English High School in Boston. - LeeNapier 16:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I would like to have a discussion with Jahogus, who incorrectly edited this section of the article. I am completely open to someone else's additions or deletions to a section, but only if such changes are historically accurate.
I am a graduate of Fox Chapel Area High School and have seen firsthand, repeatedly, year after year, the way that upper class and popular students have treated others. Even before the actual walkout, I myself saw Principal Williams smirking and laughing at preps who were picking on their peers, including those who wore the "rat day" costumes. I am ashamed and disgusted to see that someone has diluted their actions, calling the ritual "fresh Friday" instead of "rat Friday," as was clearly the case. I am taken aback as I see that someone has only credited "a select few" Sharpsburgers as being offended by their own ostracism.
I am mostly offended by the implications that the Sharpsburg students somehow "had it coming," noting that certain students were disrupting classes. Perhaps an extra section should be added regarding disruptions caused by the senior pranks performed by the upper class students. Perhaps hanging a dead deer from the rafters of the new gymnasium could be considered more disruptive than a "Sharpsburg rat" yelling an obscenity at a teacher. It is clear to me, if this article has not been edited by the administration itself, that someone with much intolerance toward these less fortunate classmates decided to take them down another notch. I am not from Sharpsburg, nor have I been raised in a lower class household, yet I have still endured the kind of treatment from these preps that I would not wish on my worst enemies. I used to think I was overreacting or that I was alone with these feelings, until I learned of this walkout and realized the true nature of Fox Chapel's elites. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keyboardplaya (talk • contribs) 18:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
