Map - "Fourth Air Force region... WWII"
[edit]The attached map labelled "Fourth Air Force Region... WWII" shows the Fourth operational in the SW United States. Please check to see if the map should include other West Coast states as well. My father was with the Fourth Air Force and spent considerable time assigned to Redmond Air Base and Portland Army Air Base, both in Oregon. Articles on Redmond Air Base also refer to the Fourth Air Force.124.6.181.36 (talk) 14:26, 30 December 2013 (UTC)jp
- You're correct. In June 1943 Second Air Force moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and focused on training for heavy and very heavy bombardment units and aircrews. Almost all of its training bases were located in the midwest. At this time, Fourth Air Force assumed responsibility for the entire Pacific coast. I have relabled the map in the article to indicate that it depicts the geographic area of responsibility in "early" World War II. --Lineagegeek (talk) 22:53, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
