No "eruption" on September 17, 2006
[edit]AVO currently doesn't consider the Sept 17, 2006 event at Fourpeaked as an "eruption" as no juvenile magmatic material was produced. So I don't think the 2006 year should go in the "Last Eruption" column information.Idocrase 19:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- You are incorrect. The AVO website classifies this event as an eruption - http://www.avo.alaska.edu/volcanoes/volcact.php?volcname=Fourpeaked&eruptionid=555 Michaelh2001 (talk) 00:33, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Proper name (and proper noun)
[edit]When I originally created this article, I listed "Fourpeaked Volcano" as its name, listing both Fourpeaked Mountain and Fourpeaked Volcano as proper nouns. The official name of the mountain is Fourpeaked Mountain. It is also known as Fourpeaked volcano, but "volcano" is not part of a proper noun in this case. I have corrected my error throughout the article. Michaelh2001 17:06, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Last known eruption was prior to 7994 BC ?
[edit]It seems excessively pedantic to interpret "dormant for over 10,000 years" as "last known eruption was prior to 7994 BC." The 10,000 year value is obviously (?) a round number. Without an explicit error range, it is fair to take it as meaning sometime between 11,000 and 10,000 years ago. I suggest changing this to "last known eruption was prior to 8000 BC." Moreover, an original research article should be cited. The closest I could find is a Alaska Volcano Observatory poster, which says "No volcanic deposits of Holocene or younger age (past ~10,000 years) were identified." Agreed, and I went ahead and made that change for you. You know, you can make such minuscule changes yourself, without asking for a discussion. Go ahead and make any such good faith edits in the future. Thanks! Michaelh2001 (talk) 05:01, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- I question whether this mountain has actually been dormant for that long. Glaciers excel at quickly obliterating traces of minor eruptions that don't strew material beyond the flanks.--2601:444:380:8C00:B0EF:C1FC:E212:1E29 (talk) 04:58, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
