[edit]I would like to propose that the two current equations are blended together for the sake of simplify and conceptual clarity. For example, L to be used in both for the length scale and alpha for diffusivity (thermal or mass). Grein (talk) 20:32, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
I propose it be treated separately so its use can be explained in the article. Venny85 (talk) 17:44, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Please define, and-or provide links to the definitions for: - characteristic time, - characteristic timescale, especially clarifying their distinction. Michael Hodgson (talk) 09:36, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- The latest revision includes the definition of the diffusion time scale, and removes the phrase "charactistic time" from the definition of Fo. The diffusion time scale is shown to arise directly from nondimensionalization of the heat equation, as well. Fiske (talk) 17:52, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
