Natural fountains
[edit]There should be a wiki article on natural fountains. If it exists, I can't find it, and it should be linked to from here. The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_(hydrology) article does not mention "fountains" and only has a See Also to manmade fountains. Likewise the Geysers article is insufficient because they are powered by heat, whereas "At fountain springs, cold groundwater is forced out of the Earth by stratigraphic head pressure or CO2 (e.g., Crystal Geyser; Glennon and Pfaff 2005)." http://springstewardshipinstitute.org/fountain See illustration there. "Discharge is caused by a confined, pressurized aquifer, rather than by heat... Fountain springs may be cold water, submarine seeps of hydrocarbons, carbonates or brine; these can support dense macrofaunal communities along continental margins under the oceans (Cordes et al. 2007)." And from http://docs.springstewardship.org/PDF/SpringerEtAlClassification.pdf "The "sphere" into which the aquifer is discharged as described by Meinzer (1923)... The 12 springs classes include: 1) springs that emerge in caves, and 2) limnocrene surficial lentic pools... 6) hillslope springs... 9) geysers, 10) artesian fountains..." Is this disambiguation page the right place to propose this article? (And if one already exists, then it'd be great to point to it from here.) Fountain worker
[edit]I stumbled across the term "I work as a fountain girl...". I assumed it has something to do with serving drinks or beverages but upon research I found that it was "preparing and serving fountain orders, including ice cream cones, sundaes, and cups". Now I researched if "fountain" had any other meaning than providing liquids but didn't find anything. Is there something I miss? Glamourqueen (talk) 12:59, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
