[edit]- Building 257, better known as Lab 257: [1] (will work for this article too), [2],
- Building 101

- I read that book and it is what inspired me to start this page. I'd love to see an article on Lab 257. - Schrandit (talk) 17:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- The book is probably notable enough for an article too. :) I don't really do book articles, for some reason I can't do them very well, I stick to history, its my forte, but I plan on doing both buildings, if I can find enough sources, which I think I can. Done rambling now, that's a lot of commas.--IvoShandor (talk) 13:15, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Also, do you know where: and in many cases have been incorporated in one way or another (some as animal holding pens) into the island's new role as a disease research center, that statement comes from, it needs a source. I may be mistaken but from what I have read Terry was constructed in 1897, not 1879, thoughts? Is the State of New York website wrong? It's possible that it's a typo. --IvoShandor (talk) 13:16, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have two sources that are pretty reliable quoting either 1897, or the late 1890s, I think I am going to make the change. --IvoShandor (talk) 13:21, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I found a source for the statement I noted as needing one. Also, you may have noticed, Building 257 has been created. --IvoShandor (talk) 16:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Sources
[edit]I am going to compile sources here, if the article gets about 2000 more characters, which isn't that much it will qualify as a 5x expansion and can be featured in WP:DYK.--IvoShandor (talk) 13:17, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Those are some good sources, especially the ones that are in PDF format. --IvoShandor (talk) 13:48, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have managed to surpass the DYK minimum for a 5x expansion, work still ongoing. --IvoShandor (talk) 14:59, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
repetition/copy editing
[edit]I have edited the article, however the repetition in the article does help the reader when reading the full article, so unless this article is expanded to the point where the repetition could be deleted without deleting important information, the repetitions should be kept. If you disagree, please change the article and notify me on my talk page. Griffinofwales (talk) 03:28, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
For sale
[edit]"This fort and all of Plum Island are currently for sale. They are listed with the Government Accounting Office website as accepting bids. The listing number is C02NY0619."
Looking at the linked source at gao.gov this is clearly not at all true. That list is the estimated cost to clean up unused defense sites. Unless there is another source, the island is not for sale. I am not comfortable editing articles but I believe this reference should be removed. 68.192.111.191 (talk) 04:46, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Article overhaul
[edit]I am planning to re-organize this article along chronological lines, following the general outline of my work on Fort H. G. Wright. I am primarily intending to add information on the coast defense era at Fort Terry, and will preserve all other parts of the article, though with some re-arrangement. Are there any objections? RobDuch (talk) 04:55, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
- I've re-organized the article; I have also added to the coast defense info. RobDuch (talk) 01:48, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Vintage postcards added
[edit]I bought a couple of vintage postcards showing the island prior to World War I. I scanned and uploaded them to Wikimedia Commons - pretty sure they are PD due to their age - and added them to this article. The close-up of the 10-inch gun firing seemed especially worthy.
