Open questions
[edit]The sources mention that
- the fort was also rebuilt in 1831, [1] and indeed the 1841 image seems to show a differently built fort than the 1818 image. However, I have not found any more info on that.
- that the fort was destroyed at the beginning of some "Indian Wars" in 1855. The closest link I found was the Yakima War, but I'm not sure whether that's entirely correct. There were other tribes warring at that time in this region, too. Not the Nez Perce themselves, though; and it probably wasn't the Cayuse either (they went to war in 1848, shortly after the Whitman massacre).
