Timely information
[edit]I realize that this article is currently part of a school project, but I think it would be good for me to remind the students and instructor working on this project that articles should not contain an excessive amount of material which is only of interest to readers in the present or near future. Wikipedia articles should be written in such a manner so that they wouldn't sound outdated to a reader a year or two from now. The article currently has material about upcoming events at the park. This type of material is best left out of an article. Think of it this way, if you looked this state park up in a regular encyclopedia, would you expect to see a list of upcoming events at the park? It is best to include only material that is of a lasting interest to the reader. By the way, I've made a couple of minor changes to the article to bring it back in line with the usual format of an article. --MatthewUND(talk) 00:04, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, this is a good reminder. Feel free to chime in in the "workshop" section at User talk:1013-whittney if you have more guidance for students. 1013-josh 00:08, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would best best to actually remove this section in its entirety. --MatthewUND(talk) 23:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm curious why the "Events in 2007" section remained in place even after the problems with it were brought up? This section is unencyclopedic and is out of place in a Wikipedia article. --MatthewUND(talk) 00:27, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Whittney, your thoughts? Matthew, feel free to be bold and remove it. 1013-josh 02:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
