Model years

[edit]

Does anybody have a decent reference for which model years the Durango was made? The article referenced http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/01/03/fords-last-chero-the-durango/ for 81-82 but the link actually says "It seems National Coach Works of Los Angeles built the Durango from 1978 to 1982". This source is not much more than a feel-good opinion piece, so I don't trust it much.  Stepho  talk  03:58, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reply I was able to dig up a couple of references that were a bit more useful, in terms of what we need here, although from what it sounds like, some of the build information is very hard to come by. From what I get out of it, nearly all are 1981s, and possibly some examples are 1982s (none are before, none are after) --SteveCof00My Suggestion box is open 10:27, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for digging up those references. Unfortunately http://www.ranchero.us/forum/index.php?threads/durango-the-last-ranchero-looking-for-other-fairmont-durango-owners.7113/page-2 lists wild speculation of production ranging from 1979-83 to 1981-1982 and total numbers ranging from 69 total to 2 years of 800 each. It also uses Wikipedia as a source, making our use of it circular. Both points show why we have the WP:BLOGS policy. But it's better than no references at all, so I won't delete them. The magazine articles look like they might be more promising. Wish I could read them but I can't find any online copies. Sigh :(  Stepho  talk  04:32, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Involvement

[edit]

I noted that the Durango is listed as though it were an actual Ford product, given what information I can locate this would seem not to be the case as, thus far, I cannot find any reliable source that indicates Ford had any official involvement here at all. The source cited for this merely references an article in an automotive publication where the owner of one of these vehicles is quoted as stating that Ford was involved in the project, I would argue that this really doesn't qualify as a reliable source. Does anybody have any supporting sources for the claim? Syr74 (talk) 01:14, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
