Weasel words? Would anybody intent on claiming the same please refer to the Wikipedia page on weasel words and read it carefully before continuing. The revision states that D2C is based loosely upon the DEW98 platform which preceeded it, which is true, and that Ford Motor Company considers D2C to be a new platform, which they do. So exactly which of those two factual statements is intended to take away from the other, a requirement for something to be considered a weasel word? I would appreciate clarification before undoing my revisions again.
As for the revision regarding the fuel tank design. The design of these components isn't a direct carryover, a reality which should be obvious to everybody interested in either design since fuel tanks from a DEW98 based car cannot be employed in the Mustang. Since the fuel tank design is simply based upon the older unit used in DEW98 I would appreciate clarification here as well.

ford used a derivative of dew, the 4.6 litre wouldn't fit within the lincolns original suspension so they swapped it for macpherson struts
You are correct, and I revised the page accordingly. Ford chose to employ Mac struts up front instead of DEW98's double wishbone design for reasons of cost and engine fitment. Also worth noting is that the concept of D2C being C1 based is ridiculous. Hau Thai Tang, who is the authority on all things S197, stated in an interview with Motor trend that there existed near direct DEW98 component carryover in D2C, which included all of the floor pan, trans tunnel, front frame-rail structure, and the fuel tanks.
And those are simply the components that were carried over virtually as is. Other components, like the firewall, etc...are also related to DEW98 but were changed so drastically they cannot be called carryover components. Other than these components, the roof structure..which is obviously unique to the S197 Mustang, and the rear frame rail...also unique to S197.....well there frankly isn't anything left of the D2C platform to be C1 derived!
In light of this I find the notion that D2C sharing rear trailing arms and some front strut components with C1 somehow makes this platform a C1 derivative is simply ridiculous. Especially in light of the massive DEW98 component in the D2C chassis.
Is S550 really based on D2C
[edit]Is there any proof that it is based on the D2C — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.222.180.90 (talk) 16:06, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
