I have a 90 Bronco E/B edition that came with 5.0L that came with a AOD trans. I changed it over to a 5.8L that I got out of 90 XLT with a push button OD. Nothing other then the engine swop nother else was changed. Problem: the AOD trans. it is not shifting properly, also when it is put into reverse it doesn't engauge at low RPM and when driving it will kick into a coast mode with low RPM. What did we do wrong?

Torque rating

[edit]

The information regarding the 4r70w's torque rating "70x10=700 ft-lbs" is internet legend. There are no credible sources from Ford stating this. This is the only information that I could find from Ford regarding the torque http://media.ford.com/products/presskit_display.cfm?vehicle_id=548&press_subsection_id=423&make_id=92 "Expedition's 4R70W transmission is rated to handle up to 506 foot-pounds of torque, which provides a large performance cushion beyond the peak torque rating of Expedition's largest available engine." (info for 2003 Expedition which still had 4r70w. the 4r75_ didn't appear until the next year).

I edited that out of the article. Someone find some real info regarding Ford's rating of these trans instead of just reverting my edit please!

AOD TV Rod/cable

[edit]

Could someone add the information about the AOD's TV (throttle valve) rod/cable? People should know that if the rod/cable (depending on year which one it has) isn't adjusted properly or comes off, it could kill the transmission in only a few miles. I've seen it way too many times. 66.61.108.236 (talk) 12:32, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2005 4.2L Transmission

[edit]

For 2005, the 4.2L v6 is left off as an engine option with the particular transmission associated - either 4R70W or 4R70E - I'd like to know! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.45.129.207 (talk) 23:14, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

4r70 transmission ratings

[edit]

4r70= 4 speed, rear wheel drive, 70 percent of the maximum torque rating of the line.

4r100= the same but 100 percent of the torque rating. 2603:9001:5301:9CF6:C0B2:F9B7:FBFE:CB (talk) 14:31, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
