Newspaper and questionable sources

Removal of advertisement and notability tags
[edit]I generally edited this article and removed the advertisement and notability tags. I had no prior knowledge of this organization prior to finding it on the list of articles written like advertisements. I removed some of the specific beliefs of the organization and added information about its membership statistics, the structure of meetings, the relation to the AA values (which I also don't know much about) and so on.
I would like the article to have more information on how FA is different than Food Addicts Anonymous (FAA) and Overeaters Anonymous (OA). That is, what led to the founding of a separate organization?
The notability tag was removed; I can't name a specific guideline for inclusion, but FAA has an article, and I don't think there's anything to be gained by merging this article or deleting it. Most of the sources are to the organization's own publications, but that is acceptable for an article about what an organization does and how it functions. Roches (talk) 22:41, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Roches: can you point me to the guidelines showing that WP:SPS is accetable for an article about what and organization does and how it functions? - Scarpy (talk) 19:41, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- WP:ABOUTSELF. I cleaned up this article at random and I don't have any interest in arguing about whether point 5 precludes using the self-published sources as references, although it is clear that content from self-published sources should not be used. Roches (talk) 03:58, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
I Believe the number of WP:SPS tags in the article are inappropriate. Most are cases of WP:ABOUTSELF which is perfectly acceptable as noted by @Roches Cautiously removing some of these tags. Dakinijones (talk) 17:39, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
