Location of Folsom Prison
[edit]Although the postal address is Represa, California, the prison is located in the city of Folsom, California. Jim 01:33, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
For map of city limits showing the prison within the limits, see http://www.saccounty.net/portal/cities-in-the-county/docs/City-of-Folsom.pdf. Jim 05:53, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Folsom State Prison, Represa
[edit]The text states "Folsom State Prison (FSP), also known as Folsom State Prison, Represa...". I was unable to find a reference to "Folsom State Prision, Represa" except in contexts that identified prisons in conjunction with the names of communities (e.g., "Wasco State Prison - Wasco"), so doubt that it is actually "known" that way. One of the Menendez brothers was also there
[edit]I recently toured the museum at the prison and according to their documents, one of the famous Menendez brothers was also an inmate there. I can't recall which one. The museum has nooses that were actually used to hang prisoners. They only used a rope once and then retired it. For one noose, they list the name of the prisoner that it was used to hang. One prisoner tried to construct an underwater breathing apparatus so that he could hide in a prison lagoon/pond until night before attempting his escape. The prisoner drowned. They have pictures. Also, the museum has a restored gattling gun that was used at the prison to deter large scale escape attmepts. I believe these were mostly used before the prison was completely fenced. The Menendez fact would be an interesting addition to the article. Other famous people who visited (were not inmates) include Karl Malone and bike builder Jesse James.Casey789 18:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

1932 escape attempt: "mill pond?"
[edit]According to WP, a mill pond is a body of water used to run a mill. The body of water mentioned in the article, if it feeds the power house is a forebay; if it drains the power house, it is a tailrace. CampKohler (talk) 22:44, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Poor quality pix?
[edit]Why is there a request for a better-quality pix? It looks OK to me. If it needs to be better, how much better does it need to be? Is there a standard or goal to aim for? CampKohler (talk) 22:44, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Gift Johnny Cash got at the end of Folsom Prison
[edit]Just wanted to know what gift Johnny Cash got at the end of the concert —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.158.201 (talk) 05:19, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Claims regarding conditions in 1968
[edit]I found it hard to believe that this prison had an almost perfect record for preventing recidivism in 1968. After reading the citation all I found was claims made regarding the inmates which attended a Johnny Cash concert, not the whole population. I modified the text in the article to make it match the source. 75.95.47.110 (talk) 20:02, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- My change was just reverted, but I don't think the other editor understood what I was getting at. I reviewed the article to make sure my change wasn't already handled and couldn't find it. I reverted to my version and hope someone at least reads this and understands what I'm getting at enough to make their own change. 75.95.47.110 (talk) 20:08, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Music
[edit]Why is the "Folsom Prison Gang" band even mentioned? I am sure there are hundreds of local bands with names that include Folsom, and I am sure there are also hundreds of Johnny Cash tribute bands and impersonators. However, none of them, including this one, have made any of Billboard's lists nor have they made any major news sites. Although it might be interesting if you lived in the same community, it doesn't belong on a place like Wikipedia which should have information that appeals internationally. This band blurb and the subtitle it was written under should be deleted or even moved to the "Tribute Act" page where there seems to be a list of similar bands. 2601:245:C100:F500:1D10:81CB:4EEA:446E (talk) 10:08, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- The band has no Wikipedia article and I was not able to locate any reliable secondary sources to support notability. I removed it from the article. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:45, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
