Speedy Delete Contested

[edit]

I created this page because I work in the book industry (NOT for Follett, but actually for one of their competetors), and I found it interesting that there is no page for this, as there is for many other large corporations. It is certainly not a "blatent advertisment". I had initially considered creating a stub simply stating

Follett Corporation is an Illinois based company that provides a variety of book-related services to schools, colleges, and public libraries through its subsidiaries.

, but I decided to actually do some research and comprise a base for what could be a good article. I see having a page for Follett no different from having pages for Barnes & Noble, Borders Group, Ingram_Book_Group, Foyles, etc. Tony P 16:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not being the author, I can and have removed the speedy deletion tag, for it at present can not reasonably be considered primarily an advertisement. it seems a respectable publishing company stub, perhaps in need of both expansion and editing. DGG 20:31, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found this page researching a Bible I have, The Interlinear Literal Translation of the Greek New Testament, Copyright, 1897 by Wilcox & Follett Co., Chicago, Illinois, editor George Ricker Berry, Ph.D. of the University of Chicago and Colgate University, Department of Semitic Languages. If it's not an advertisement, wouldn't it be better to delete things like "During the next two decades, C.W.'s sons infused the company with ideas and enthusiasm..." ?--Bobrowen (talk) 23:16, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Data Warehouseing

[edit]

does anyone think a note should be added about Follett moving into educational data warehouse and analytics? http://www.follett.com/headlines/ViewArticle.cfm?ArticleID=1564 has the information about this. i'm kinda hesitant to add it myself because of NPOV issues (i work for a competitor and used to work for the company purchased).

Follett’s Position in the Marketplace

[edit]

Hello, I am currently an associate at Follett’s Higher Education Group division and as such was hesitant to perform any edits. Rather, I wanted to share some additional info surrounding Follett’s stance in the marketplace – primarily addressing the comments of Follett being in turmoil and a weakening corporation.

Extended content

Follett was ranked #155 in Forbes’ list of largest private companies for 2010 and is currently listed as # 58 on Retailer’s Top 500 list with 9.2% sales growth on their efollett.com website in 2010. Adding more than 50 stores in the last year, Follett continues rapid growth, and now manages nearly 1,000 locations across the United States and Canada [1].

Signing the biggest new industrial deal in 2011 for the Chicago area, Follett also opened its new, approximately 550,000 square-foot, Distribution Center in Aurora, Illinois. The current Distribution Center located in River Grove, Illinois is processing five million more units per year than the facility’s original capacity. Moving to the new Distribution Center will increase processing capacity to 16 million units annually and is expected to bring 200 – 400 jobs to Aurora [2] [3].

Done with amendments to uncited/promotional-sounding parts. Thanks for respecting the WP:COI policy in this way. – Fayenatic L (talk) 21:26, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
