Connection to USCG Aviation

[edit]

Not sure I see the connection ... though some USCG Aviation units will 'airevac' Santa into military units, this program isn't a USCG Aviation program. Enlighten me? David Spalding (  ) 05:40, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flying Santa comes on a Coast Guard Helicopter, is a Coast Guard CWO and delivers presents to children at my local Coast Guard Station. The local CG units associate it with USCG aviation. Please feel free to remove the tag if you think it is not appropriate. --- Safemariner 06:22, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the cited reference. The history page overwhelmingly indicates it's a civilian activity, not a USCG Aviation program (though PAOs might've been convinced to get funding for USCG aircraft to help out; can't find any indications of that). Reference also ID's CWO Waldrip as working at the Boston ATON team, not in aviation (though Airsta's do ferry ATON teams to remote sites). Sounds like something he does outside of his duty capacity. Let's bump it to a category related USCG aids to navigation, or history, as it's not a formal Aviation activity. David Spalding (  ) 20:35, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I found some good see-alsos, and contributed to categories. Hopefully this is enough "fertilizer" to help the article grow. (crosses fingers, checks mistletoe) David Spalding (  ) 21:23, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
