This page should be renamed "bmi regional" as the airline's name is all lower case. Not sure how to do this. Thanks Thunderwing 12:16, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia will not let you start article names in lowercase so the alternate would be Bmi regional, which would not look right. I would suggest leaving it alone.MilborneOne 12:25, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had seen this article for the bank First Direct which is all lowercase [[1]]. I can't see how to do it though. I do agree that Bmi regional would not look right though! Thanks. Thunderwing 12:34, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
{{lowercase|title=first direct}} is added as the first line of the article. --Stewart 22:48, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just reverted the bmi --> BMI changes. I am not sure why the originator of these changes thinks that the company's choice of capitalisation should not be represented. Otherwise easyJet would by Easyjet and a few other airlines and organisations would need their pages changing. Odd capitalisation is why the lowercase title template exists. --Cheesy Mike 09:50, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{lowercase}} exists to facilitate a limited set of lowercase titles, not to excuse bad English or pandering to trademark holders. 81.104.175.145 05:17, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MOSTM may provide the answers you are looking for. --Stemonitis 10:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BMA / BMR - ICAO Code

[edit]

There has been some recent discussion over whether the ICAO code of BMI Regional is BMA or BMR. The current official ICAO document ICAO Document 8585: Designators for Aircraft Operating Agencies, Aeronautical Authorities and Services, available here via Eurocontrol states BMR is the code, however it has been noted that most flights are operated using identifier BMA in their flightplans. For the time being I have kept the code on the page as BMR (as this is verifiable), however we do need to clear this issue up and perhaps other editors can assist and provide their comments here. Thanks. SempreVolando (talk) 19:18, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The ICAO code is BMR but the airline operates for BMI and uses BMIs ICAO code of BMA and callsign Midland. Infobox should show BMR but the fact that it operates flights for BMI as BMA/Midland should be mentioned in the text not infobox. MilborneOne (talk) 20:32, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could be not just use BMA/BMR or something along those lines? SamNagy (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:13, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is really like a codeshare and codeshare callsigns and codes are not normally put in the infoboxes. BMR is allocated but the fact the airlines does not operate any services of its own at the moment does not mean it can not be used in the future. MilborneOne (talk) 20:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lowercase

[edit]

Yet again BMI is being changed to bmi. Please read the following guidelines and policy to understand why this is incorrect:

WP:MOSTM states:

Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, regardless of the preference of trademark owners.

Wikipedia:Name#Use_standard_English_for_titles_even_if_trademarks_encourage_otherwise states:

Follow standard English text formatting for article names that are trademarks. Items in full or partial uppercase…should have standard capitalization

The correct usage is thus BMI regional, and as previously discussed above, should not be reverted to bmi Regional or any other variation. Nouse4aname (talk) 09:29, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
