Busiest in NYC
[edit]Surely it can't be. Floyd Bennett Field ramped up operations in the early 1930s, several years before Laguardia Airport, and must have eclipsed Speed's during those years. Or am I missing something? Jim.henderson 21:00, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's mentioned in a number of sources I used to write the article. (See [1][2][3][4]) So I added it in. This PDF publication does say that it was competing with Floyd Bennett Field. I don't doubt that Floyd Bennett Field was more popular considering that it is now a park commemorating its service. --Voidvector 22:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, the sources all say so, all of them more than half a century later, and none of them mentions NOP at all, or says whether "busy" is measured by aircraft movements, passengers, cargo tonnage, or other numbers. Despite my skepticism I guess it has to stand unless someone can find comparitive and precisely defined traffic figures that include other than Queens airports, or a contemporary source that can trump these modern ones. Thanks for your attention. Jim.henderson 03:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Proposed redevelopment projects
[edit]Instead of a proposed redevelopment project of the former airport after it closed, I found a link to one that was said to be proposed in December 1971, according to the "Abandoned and Little Known Airfields website. I've been trying to see if there was any connection between the airport and the old "Edo Aircraft Corporation" building, but considering that the building was on 14th Avenue, it seems a little too far north. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 16:00, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
