As Grasso Luigi mentioned on the page of the figure itself: the orbital structure of the singlet Fluorenylidene is drawn in a misleading way. It looks like sp-hybridization, even though the singlet carbene has a sp2-hybridization (trigonal planar structure). It would be more precise to draw only the lobe with the electron pair, pointing upward. I also recommend writing the hybridization type of the respective carbenes next to it, so it is absolutely obvious with only one glance which orbital structure both carbenes have.
